"Hope For Children" World Carnival Day Johor Bahru, Malaysia 28th May 2011

In conjunction with this year’s FE "Hope for Children" World Carnival Day, Jhor Bahru LEAD Team organized a charity drive among its members and friends to provide much needed daily provisions and necessities for:-

•Puspanesam Home

•Persatuan Kebajikan Penjagaan Radhamani

•Bethel Community Centre

•Persatuan Kebajikan Elijah Misi JB (Kulai)

We also organized a one-day field trip to UK Agro Farm in Kluang that was participated by 90 children.

The Highlights Of The Fun Trip Include:

•Stop over at ParitYa’ani milking station, to observe goat-milking process.

•Proceed to a sumptuous lunch at UK Agro Farm with fresh passion fruit juice.

•Start of farm tour via UK Agro Farm’s shuttle bus service.

•At the animal feed production facility, the children learn about the importance of animal nutrition.

•At the next stop, a live sheep-dog show had the children in awe with its dexterity and speed in corralling the herd of sheep.

•The children fed milk and hay to young goats and sheep at the feeding station. They also had the opportunity to hold and pet kids and lambs.

•At the herb garden, we were shown many types of herb plants and was served a refreshing drink of Stevie (a natural sweetener)

•Next at the ostrich park, the children were able to feed and pet ostriches up close. Ostrich is the largest living species of bird in the world.

•The children were able to observe first hand, the culture and life style of the Orang Asli at the Aborigines Cultural Village. They were amazed by their tree-top houses, attire, and skills in hunting and animal-trapping.

•At the mushroom and vegetable farm, we had the chance to taste pickled mushroom salad. A must try for health food fanatics.

•During tea break, the children were served goat milk cup-cakes and delicious goat-milk ice-cream.

•A colouring competition was held for all the children.

•The children were also treated to an impromptu sheep-catching show by Presidential Director David Choo.

•At the closing ceremony, speeches were delivered by Presidential Director Doreen Tan, the representatives of the homes: Madam Nesam, Madam Shanti and Mr Philip. The coloring contest winners were presented with prizes. To the delight of all the children, gifts were also handed out to everyone.
To many of the children, it was the first time they have travelled the farthest from their home for an outing. They expressed their joy and appreciation with loud cheers and applause to FE and the organizers for the opportunity to enjoy a fun-filled day.
